A Teen’s Fight with Parents

Prisha
Background of client
Prisha was a teenager and was studying in 10th standard. The family was basically Indian but settled abroad.

Overview of the issue
Until Prisha was a child, she used to listen to whatever her parents say. When she turned into a teenager, she developed her own thoughts and turned rebellious towards her parents. The communication between parents and her was no communication but just arguments and quarrels. The situation was so worse that she decided to run away from the house.

Our involvement
On contacting our institute Sambandhah, the counsellor firstly tried to understand the perspective of both the sides. Thereafter, the parents were made to understand that Prisha is growing up and has her own thoughts, which to some extent have to be accepted and respected. On the other hand, Prisha was made to understand that her parents wished her good future and therefore they are trying their best. It took around one year to bridge the gap between the parents and Prisha and to make them come to a mid-way solution, in which both of them are satisfied and happy with the relationship. Most of the sessions were online.

End result
Prisha and her parents are sharing a very good relationship and bonding. They unitedly discuss on important things, take both sides views in consideration and then arrive at a decision. By seeing this, the brother of Prisha is also developing the same habit and is also enjoying a very peaceful family time.
